This area to day I would love to get back to. On leaving Pfalzen I biked through a small village or two and then the next town was Terenten, or to my suprise, "Trento" in Italian, where the last winter Olympics were held. Wow, since most everything was in German, it wasn't until I saw the town sign that posted the name in both German and Italian and saw something about the Olympics that I realized that I was biking through Trento. I would love to bring James back here for skiing some winter. The runs looked good and I know how much rain this area gets, so there will be plenty of snow.
Onto the Brenner Pass (1370 meters). Today had so much nice scenery that I was stopping about every half kilometer to take a picture.
I had been intending on staying in Brenner, but the pansion had no room and suggested I bike a few kilometers over into Austria. I did this but all the places to stay were booked. I kept stopping and stopping but they were all full. And Monday's are "Ruhetag" or "Quite day" where the guesthouses are all closed. I was pretty tired and arrived in the town of Steinach which was I knew as far as I could bike that day. I found a hotel, which said they were all booked up when I came in, but I begged her and told her I had been biking from Brenner and not able to find a place to stay and does she know of any houses or pansions where I could stay. The yound gal was so nice and produced the miricle of Haus Erika for 22 Euros a night. She was a savior. After I showered and looked presentable again I went back to thank her.
