Split, HR - Sat, June 2

While James was making phone calls I found a grocery store within the walls of Diocletian's palace. I was so happy to find a store, open until 9 pm, that I was ready to do kartwheels down the street. Most all the stores close at noon on Saturdays and do not open until Monday, so we would not have had any snacks. I brought James back to the store and we did some shopping. I could not find him, so I finally paid for my snacks and left. He was outside the store, drinking a beer with his new friends up on their porch. They were laughing like they'd been long lost friends that hadn't seen each other for years. After visiting with them, the six of us went out for pizzia. James really enjoyed himself and it was a nice birthday for him.

So around 11 pm we got in our car and needed to find a place to stay. We didn't want to impose on our new friends and thier couches. James was a bit tipsy and flying high in his birthday mood and because of the beers and jollily found a steet to drive on and headed out of town. I sat there sizing up the front and back seats of our rental car, planning on having to stay in our car, but after 15 minutes we found a stip of hotels right on the waterfront. The hotel owner answered our buzz and we had a wonderful place to stay on the water outside of Split for 25€ per person.
